How many of you get true quiet time? The kind where you only have to think for yourself and not have to answer to the groans and demands of your littles. I only get those moments every so often when both of the kids are in school and I'm not cleaning houses. Sometimes I don't know what to do with myself, but revel in the fact that it is QUIET. Oh the quiet. It's like a long lost friend. To sit there with nothing but my own thoughts, not going through my to-do list or running errands is a treasured time for me.
I got one of those days back in September. I was sitting down at my workspace (i.e. the kitchen table) and meditating on John 14:12-14:
I got one of those days back in September. I was sitting down at my workspace (i.e. the kitchen table) and meditating on John 14:12-14:
I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in Me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in My name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask Me for anything in My name and I WILL do it! (*with my own emphasis)
In the quiet, peaceful setting (At the moment it's not so quiet. Buddy is singing, "Savages! Savages! Barely even human!! Thanks Pocahontas...), I prayed that the Spirit would show me what I needed to ask for in that moment. And then came the tears. My heart was opened and the words that poured out onto my blank pages lead me to Colossians 1:9-10:
So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
This is where our journey begins. I prayed for our unknown child.
The Man and I will begin our season into fostering to adopt. We started with one agency, but after numerous times of lack of communication, we decided we needed to go another route. Enter Hope and Home. Our first in-person meeting will be this Thursday. We will share the process, the roller coaster of emotions, and our journey in general. We ask for your prayers as we begin this journey.
Thanks for joining alongside of us.
