It's a great confidence booster. Combine it with Peppermint for an uplifting day. Thieves is our go to help with the germs. For Back to School I made our "germ buster." I took a "weekend" break on Thursday to get used to getting up early. Bean's school starts at 7:45 AM and I've had the luxury of not getting up that early. She finished up the week strong. One of her favorite things about starting school was that she got to play on the playground 3 times a day. But I think the highlight of her week was making a new friend. She was so nervous about not making friends. I swiped some Joy on her to give her confidence and GeneYus to help her to stay focused at school. Let's get back to LEMON! Oh Lemon...I heart you! You, like all the oils in the Premium Starter Kit, are so versatile. I can use you with anything. I can use you to clean, add some flavor to my water and food, and help with my health and wellness. Thank you! So how do I use Lemon?
How do you use your LEMON? Don't have yours? The potions that I've mixed up, listed above, have the oils included in the Premium Starter Kit. Come and join me on my oily journey. I promise, you won't look back!
K What a wonderful day for a lavender post. Today we dropped Bean off for her first day of Kindergarten. I knew that it was going be a little bit stressful, so I combined my lavender and Joy. I did also put some on my pillow last night so that I could get some restful sleep instead of tossing and turning worrying about how this morning was going to go. I think my husband can verify that I slept well...I probably should've added some Valor (come back to see what I use it for). "Lavender is the most versatile essential oil and is often used to cleanse and soothe minor burns, cuts, and other skin irritations. Its refreshing, relaxing scent has balancing properties that also calm the mind and body." p. 15 Young Living Product Guide Did you know that not all lavender essential oils are the same? I had no idea. Lavandin (Lavandula x hybrida) is a hybrid plant developed by crossing true lavender with spike lavender. So essentially it smells like lavender, but the chemistry and uses are VERY different. Lavender can be used on burns, but Lavandin's camphor content invalidates its use to soothe burns. So please make sure you are using the correct oil for your specific need.
Any who, lavender is my go to oil. I use it as part of my allergy trio LLP (lavender, lemon, peppermint), my sleepy cream for the kids, eczema cream, helping with sinus infections, and for my mom, restless leg syndrome. It's also AMAZING to diffuse at bed time with Peace and Calming (recipes to be added to the recipe tab soon). But you know what is COMPLETELY AMAZING? This post from The Oily Crunchy Mama about how she has been using her lavender oil. How will you use your lavender when you get yours? Don't have yours? The potions that I've mixed up, listed above, have the oils included in the Premium Starter Kit. Come and join me on my oily journey. I promise, you won't look back! K This morning I had to say goodbye to my in-loves (in-laws). They came for an amazing week here in Colorado Springs. They definitely enjoyed the cooler weather and cleaner air. They live in Central Washington where the fires are burning like crazy. We were so blessed to be able to have that time with them and I can't wait till we see them again. So I thought it would be fitting to share today's oil, JOY. Having them here was such a joy and I'm so blessed to have them in my life. Love you guys! I know we're only on Day 2 and I've already said that FRANKINCENSE is my favorite oil. Well...I have ANOTHER favorite oil. Why is JOY another favorite? Let me tell you. It's HAPPINESS in a bottle. Really, folks. It TRULY is. It promotes feelings of LOVE, SELF-LOVE, and CONFIDENCE. Who wouldn't want that?! This one is a blend. What's a blend? It's an oil that consists of 2 or more oils. Easy as that. This one has 10 different oils to make it AWESOME!
This just makes me smile. If I still had an office job, this would be my oil for the case of the Mondays. When I know my day is going to be crazy, I take a drop and rub it over my heart and on my wrists. It makes for a nice little perfume, too. This oil definitely is an instant pick me up! This blend is definitely a MUST HAVE for busy moms. Need to do laundry? Do you have carpool? Grab your JOY and you're set to take on whatever task you need to get done. Here's an easy diffusing recipe for a HAPPY DAY:

Frankincense has a variety of uses. "'Used to treat every conceivable ill known to man,' frankincense was valued more than gold during ancient times, and only those with great wealth and abundance possessed it." p. 69 Essential Oils Pocket Reference 6th version It can be used to minimize scars, take away fine facial lines, clear acne, ease depression, and uplift spirits. Thanks to Kari at The Happy Oils, I now have a new face wash: Kari's face washing regimen: - Wet face with water (you can get makeup off with coconut oil or sweet almond oil) - Put a quarter-size amount of sweet almond oil in hand - Add 1 drop of Frankincense - Rub this mix in circular motions all over your lovely face - Get a hot washcloth and hold it over your face (I love to breathe in at this point. Feels amazing and I get the extra benefits of frank!), then scrub it all off. This is exfoliating for me! - Pat dry with a towel - Apply a drop of Purification on any blemishes. Zap 'em! Mine disappear so much more quickly, it's rad. Boom, done! Cleaner, softer, better skin. Below you'll see some other uses of Frank: Frankincense is my new favorite oil.
K I'm so EXCITED for this upcoming series. Starting on Monday, I'll be sharing how I use these 11 essential oils in my family's everyday life. Essential oils have become a staple here in the Headley Home. Bean has been such a champ. She comes up to me and says, "Mom, I have ___________. Which oil can I use?" I love her!
A couple of weeks ago I shared about receiving my kit. Having all of these AWESOME oils at my disposal is soooo much better than only having 1 or 2. It just made sense to buy my oils this way. Being a MEMBER has some really AMAZING perks. I'll tell you more about those later. Let's just say, you will earn FREE product just by participating in a program that you will LOVE! So yes, ESSENTIAL OILS are my new fav. I love having them in our home. Diffusing them, applying them where we need them, and ingesting them are making a world of difference for us. I'm so glad to share the AWESOMENESS of oils. Follow me throughout the series and stay tuned for specials. K So, I have been interested in essential oils (EOs) for quite a long time. Have I been using them this whole time? No, not one drop. I'm kind of a skeptic when it comes to these sort of things. And apparently I'm not the only one. I've been Pinterest and Facebook stalking EOs and have observing those that use them. I never really got the information I was looking for as to why I should make the jump into this wonderful oily world. Back in March when my Man and I decided to become vegan, we started to take our health and exercise routines more seriously. That's when the thought of EOs started filling my mind. I mean, knowing about super heroes and princesses is not all that floats around in my head. And if you know me, I can be a bit obsessive in my research. I reviewed several different companies in my quest for "THE perfect oil" for my family. I did hear some testimonies from those using their oils, but I still wasn't sold. If I was going to be spending the money on these oils, I wanted to make sure that they were AWESOME, safe, and that they actually worked. I stumbled upon Rebecca at A Beautiful Ruckus and her journey of finding out about EOs. Her journey lasted 6 months when she made her decision about EOs. It was nice to have someone do most of the leg work. But then the thing that sold me on the oils was my friend, Andrea. Now if any of you have read her blog (If you haven't you probably should. She's a pretty awesome Mama of 3, which include TWIN boys!) you know she's open and real. So when I saw her post about diving into oils, I decided to make the jump with her. She immediately connected me with a wonderful group of women who are passionate about oils and natural health. They are known as The Lemon Droppers. When my kit came in, it felt like my birthday. I was opening up packages left and right.
sorts of oily concoctions; pain cream, vapor rub, sleepy cream, lip balm, eczema cream, allergy relief. The possibilities are endless! When I saw the medicine cabinet makeover and Young Living's "Seed to Seal" process, I was sold. In the day and age of artificial this and GMO that, this process takes out the questioning of, "Does the oil I'm using have any fillers?" You know what also sold me on Young Living? I purchased my member kit and now I get 24% off for life! All I have to do is spend $50 a year and that's it. It's totally like Costco maybe even cheaper, as you can see in my "little" Costco run. You could purchase retail, but then you wouldn't get this AWESOME kit AND the discount. AND you don't have to sell a thing!! That's pretty awesome in my opinion. So if you want to get a membership, click here for directions (a separate page will open so you can have them side by side).
I'm excited to go on this oily journey with you and my friends. Obviously I'm just starting out on the oily road, but I'm more than happy to answer and/or seek out the information you're looking for to help you make your decision about trying them out. Be Happy. Be Healthy. Be Oily. I can't wait to share with you some really cool things. Thank you for your patience as I have to wait patiently.
